La Porte City Public Library was established in City Hall on October 9, 1945 and moved to its current location on Main Street in October 1981. The library offers a variety of resources, including a collection of over 16,000 books and periodicals. The library has bookable spaces for studying, daily activities, technology support, maker activities, and a robust calendar of events for all ages. Anyone residing or owning property in the state of Iowa may sign up for a library card, which grants additional borrowing privileges, especially to our unique resources.
Here, you will find a few links to essential resources, but all details are available on the library's website. The library operates as a department under the city and is governed by a Board of Trustees, who are appointed by the mayor. The library mission is challenging our community to reach, explore, and transform.
